"Three studies examined the reduction in inflammatory markers with MCO membranes compared to high-flux HD membranes and showed no significant differences.
Planned study to compare 4 weeks of HDx with 4 weeks of on-line HDF in 50 patients on high-flux HD at enrollment. The 2 main outcomes of the study will be serum concentrations of p-cresol sulfate and IL-6.
Secondary outcomes will include serum concentrations of indoxyl-sulfate, trimethylamine-N-oxide, IL-10, serum amyloid A, hs-CRP, and total leukocyte count
